Heck hath no fury like a person hearing about GHOSTBUSTERS 3(R)

I found a companion to GhostbustersNews.com for people who don't find news regarding Ghostbusters 3 "vomit inducing":

http://ghostbustersiii.blogspot.com/

I don't know anything for a stone cold fact, but I cannot imagine that anyone with an open perspective can actually favor the British version of the GHOSTBUSTERS logo.  I can understand someone being philosophically opposed to the finalized logo that Columbia Pictures came up with, being British and not wanting to see their beloved creation modified for any reason whatsoever, especially by a U.S. citizen of all humanity!  But if you take National Pride and politics out of the equation, the Columbia Pictures design just looks better.  Find one U.S. citizen who wasn't raised in Britain and isn't dyslexic who disagrees and I'll shut up.
The logo seen on the banner of the above URL looks preposterous.  I don't know if that's intended as mockery, or if the website owner is British and resents the fact that Columbia Pictures didn't reverse the logo for the GB2 merchandise that was sold over there...

Ghostbusters III with an all female cast?  Um...I have nothing against that concept, but I do hope they're not doing this as some kind of male fantasy fulfillment, with bare legs and the obligatory lesbian kiss.  The idea of women carrying large amounts of weight isn't unrealistic, per se, but the majority of Hollywood actresses seem a little too lacking in skin, not to mention muscle, to realistically carry a proton pack.  But more than one person has admirably suggested casting unknowns, since there's no obvious choices for casting in the project.  But who exactly counts as "unknown"?  Ben Stiller was rejected by 20th Century Fox when the director proposed he star in THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY (1998) because he wasn't well known enough.  He had starred in FLIRTING WITH DISASTER in 1996, a very good movie, maybe not a movie **EVERYBODY** saw, but certainly enough people saw it to where a studio producer worth his salt would know to let Ben Stiller have his day in the sun.  Eh, idk...the idea of casting "big names" in movies is so stupid.  I don't know where people get the idea that an actor has anything to do with a movie's success.  Yes, you need talent.  Some movies DEMAND it.  But the actor doesn't make the movie what it is.  The heart and soul of a movie is almost always the ideas, the expression of those ideas...obviously, a good screenplay can be ruined by bad actors.  But the same can be said with bad cinematography, bad lighting, bad set design, bad costuming, you name it.  You can have 0MPH wind, a high end Sony camera resting firmly on a stand, on level ground, and film Meryl Streep reading lines with Dustin Hoffman from KRAMER VS. KRAMER (1979).  It's not the same as watching KRAMER VS. KRAMER.
Anyway...totally derailed my train of thought by talking my ass off about Ben Stiller being or not being "unknown" circa 1997/early 1998...yeah...

I think I'm gonna forgo GHOSTBUSTERS I & II on blu.  I already have GHOSTBUSTERS on digital @ Amazon Instant Video.  I can buy GHOSTBUSTERS II for $9.99 @ same.  The BD set is $23.95 w/ S&H and nothing seems worth buying with it to make it eligible for free s&h.  I have nine mp3s in my AmazonMP3 shopping cart totaling $10.02  (Wow!).  Four of those 9 are from DAYDREAM FOREVER, which I was prepared to buy in full on CD for a little over $15.  And there's nothing from THROUGH ART WE ARE ALL EQUALS that stands out.  I guess I could buy that in its entirety on mp3, less waste.  So, with all this moving to digital, what ever will I receive in the mail from Amazon LLC?  Not much telling...I probably should order that Carhartt J140 thingy...not immediately though, I don't think I'll have enough in Sept....can't remember why off hand though...

Listing The Skeletons @Closet!

I feel the hope of a nerdy chuckle when I think of owning BEETLEJUICE and CASPER on DVD or BD.  Beetlejuice, while a good movie, is of particular interest to me because the priest that attempts to wed Beetlejuice and Lydia looks A LOT like the butler from the front cover of SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET: THE BEST OF OINGO BOINGO
And CASPER is almost like a spin-off of GHOSTBUSTERS...it features a cameo of Dan Aykroyd as Ray Stantz, all decked in uniform w/ proton pack & NEUTRONA(googlestopit!) blaster.

Ah,,,,so much shiny diamondness dangling affront my face, waiting for me to grab it...when one is low on money, it's easy to realize the shallowness of this way of living.  Not to easy when you're able to bounce from spectacle to spectacle...a book titled SOCIETY OF THE SPECTACLE discusses this; and it was written in the '40's (say wha?)

I bought Nirvana - Nevermind and Mayday Parade - A Lesson In Romantics late last month, as I reported a few or so days ago...Nevermind looks cool on my cd rack...A Lesson In Romantics is starting to annoy me.  I keep feeling tempted to put it in my BD player and listen to it, overtly tolerating the opening "Jamie All Over", but finding myself trudging through "Black Cat" and just going through the motions with "When I Get Home You're So Dead" (track #3).  Rrg...

It's been...THREE! days since I "settled" on a combination of items to order with GHOSTBUSTERS 1 & 2 BD set - I chose The Chain Gang Of 1974's DAYDREAM FOREVER and Slaves' THROUGH ART WE ARE EQUALS.  I need to learn to keep my desire for art and my desire to go to Heaven separate.  I don't spend enough time worshipping God.  I don't love God, as far as I know...maybe I do, but if so, I'm not aware of any evidence of this.  I feel indifferent I guess...idk...I don't understand God.  I may not understand my mom, either, sometimes, but my lack of understanding my mom isn't any more than my lack of understanding myself - why this, why that?  Nobody knows why anything.  But I don't remember not knowing me.  I may not know how to explain myself to people, I may not have all the bits and pieces analyzed for the president to look over, but I know me.  I know me b/c I live inside me.  I am inside me.  To go outside of myself would require my body to function without a brain.  I don't understand how other people can feel any good will come from encouraging me to "reach out and get to know more people"  What people?  People all have friends, they're own social group.  What do I say to people I don't know?  Nobody cares about me.  Nobody wants to know how I feel.  Where do I find people who might even pretend to?  I go outside all the time.  I walk to and from video stores and grocery stores, etc....I don't even see anybody walking 75%+ of the time.  The fellow pedestrians that do exist from time to time...they don't mean anything to me.  And I'm impatient.  A growth in my connection to God will still take at least a couple years to develop, all the while this friend I've made hypothetically speaking may not even be a Christian...which could be a good thing if I succeed in steering him toward the light.  But why would I do that?  The only reason I'm trying to be a Christian is b/c I don't want to go to Hell.
But anyway.  My time is vast and I've nothing to do with it except listen to music.  The Christian Rock out there is mostly boring.  Regular alternative and mainstream rock is also mostly boring, but I know my way around it better, and can find music that I like based on other music I already like, going to Amazon and finding recommendations, which admittedly are mostly useless, but sometimes I do find something worthwhile scouring through pages upon pages of 'em...
Anyway, I'm sick of THROUGH ART WE ARE EQUALS, and I'm getting there w/ DAYDREAM FOREVER.  Rrrg......

yep. Just as lame as I remember...

Listening to Mayday Parade's "special edition" of MONSTERS IN THE CLOSET (2013/2014).  Just as lame as I had remembered thinking it was.  It's not horrible, just lacks the power of A LESSON IN ROMANTICS.  ANYWHERE BUT HERE was also good, I got sick of the mechanical peppiness of it after awhile.  ALIR is still good, I actually appreciate it more now than I did when I first bought it, one of my later day purchases from Pmac Music locally [Yo, Eric, schweeip! (that's the sound of spitting....not sure if that was clear...]
anyway.
"Black Cat" is a song I philosophically oppose.  I am reminded of all the pettiness in this world that revolves around "HOLLYWOOD!", and people's uninformed world view that turns actors into celebrities.  And the song revolves around the act of filmmaking...which is basically the song saying "here I am writing this song about you", because movies are part music, and the ones that aren't nobody watches anyway.  From "Ghostbusters", to "Gone With The Wind" to "Avatar", music is THERE.  Of course, that's also why I think "Your Song" by Elton John is downright preposterous.  The entire song does not say a single thing.  It just says he's written a song.  WTH???  Nonetheless, it's Elton John's biggest hit, just as The Beatle's "Paperback Writer" is one of theirs'...yeah, I guess people would rather they write their own song (You can TRyyy!!  AND FAIL!!  Hahahah...."yeah, but still, it's nice to fantasize.....") than pay someone to actually write one for them...on the plus side, all these songs do have a melody that actually was written...and there's no "melody within the melody", although if there was, it would be what I call an extraordinarily interesting piece of music, unless it was a melody someone else wrote combined with an original melody...but I'm not morally opposed to remaking a song...just as long as the remake offers something the original did not.

But anyway...if "Black Cat" opened A LESSON IN ROMANTICS, I'd probably still not have heard the best songs on the album.  "Jamie All Over" is classic emopop though, and just demands the listener to bear with it while "Black Cat" goes by...or you can skip the song, but I find that screws up the flow of the album.  There's a reason why none of the songs on A LESSON IN ROMANTICS are Top 40 hits.  The reason is this: the 11 songs that comprise A LESSON IN ROMANTICS are not individual pieces of songwriting - the entire album is one big song.  If you skip to track #7 ("Walk On Water Or Drown"), the impact is severely lessoned and it gets old quick.  Which I guess is OK if you want to wait and be bored while another semi-great song is finding its' way to you...

Anyway...my mom interrupted me during the writing of this song, so I'm not listening to the CD anymore.  I shouldn't say "CD", it's an ALBUM.  Music album is what it is.  I was streaming it on Sony Music Unlimited.  I got to hear Johnny Craig's new project Slaves' debut THROUGH ART WE ARE EQUALS, every bit as good if not better than Emarosa's self titled album from 2010.  I don't appreciate his sacrilegious lyrics though.  One of the song titles is "There Is Only One God And His Name Is Death".  What the heck is that about?  Maybe he's just trying to tease ppl, idk...there's this one Christian band called Oh, Sleeper who distinguish themselves by doing stuff like that, getting people to think deeper...

Anyway.
That's a sign of stupidity right?  Well, BEH!
Yeah, that's right you better run, I showed you.!  (sorry, I need to take my medicine...)

Um...damn it!

LOOK! ee!

Ye, look at these gnarly posters from yore!

[insert title of a Pink Floyd song]

I got MO-NEY today.  There's currently $91 in my account.  Yay!  Some of it I will need to spend soon-ish-y, but so far I've $48 to spend on something undetermined.  Hmm.........for some crazy combination of reasons, I had figured I had just $15 to blow.  Whow...hmm....

I think I finally settled on pre-ordering GHOSTBUSTERS 1 & 2 [the digibook blu ray pack].  I know it'll be cheaper at Target or Wal[k off a cliff]-Mart/Best[not]Buy, if the price at Amazon doesn't lower by $5 or $10, but oh well.  I been shopping at Target as much as I possibly can and WalMart and BestBuy are, as many already know, tumors that need to go into remission or transform.  I will not feed the fire any more than I absolutely have to.
Pre-ordered the GB1&2 set yesterday.  It's still hanging in.

I was about to send $20 to my sis, for all she's done and probably will do for me in the future...not much, but she and I agree it's a level amount.  I usually send it Dwolla, but Dwolla asked for a PIN.  Huh?  I vaugly remember setting up a pin.  I don't remember what it was though.

Yeah...here I am thieves, come and get me!  Uh...please Bank, keep my money safe (haha!).

I think that's all for now...
'til next time.

Gregg Araki's got a new one...something to look fwd to in 2015 (hopefully...)

...unless you think it's worth it to pay $8++ to see a movie in theaters.

WHITE BIRD IN A BLIZZARD, based on some book, all-star cast, apparently he's moving up in showbiz?  Heh.  Hopefully it'll be on par with MYSTERIOUS SKIN, which is a great freakin' movie...!!!  nowhere will always have a special place in my heart for being there when I was a socially awkward 16-19 year old, but now I'm a socially awkward 30 year old, and the film just doesn't impact me the way it did back then...the fact that I've seen it 10 times or more doesn't help either...but anyway...I might have liked KABOOM more had I been younger and he'd done that as a follow up to nowhere rather than SPLENDOR, which is a rip off of like 5 other movies and has almost nothing to it...and I say "almost" with hesitation...and of course his follow up to MYSTERIOUS SKIN might have been a joke in and of itself...

So...
GHOSTBUSTERS "1 & 2" BD - Sept 16, 2014
WHITE BIRD IN A BLIZZARD - 0/0/15

If Genesis or Oingo Boingo could put something out, maybe I'd have a third thing to add to this list...

Another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie seems to be incoming...hopefully it won't be all corny like the 1st 3 that came out from 1989-1993.  I still need to see the CGI animated one from 2007...I had no interest in it at the time, I guess I feel a little bitter toward the franchise, b/c if it hadn't taken off like it did, maybe GHOSTBUSTERS toys would still be around...whereas toy companies are now putting out this "adult collector" toys that serve absolutely no purpose...yeah, they're "display" toys, but what the heck is so great about watching a statue of Bill Murray in a jumpsuit?  PUT SOME HEART INTO IT, YOU PEOPLE!!!  Toys are for kids.  And for adults who have a little (or a lot of) kid left in them.  Not for executive suites owned by obsessive compulsive numbskulls.

I WANT IT NOW!!!!

I had to re-order GBI&II BD set b/c the price went down and Amazon's "pre-order price guarantee" didn't kick in...or had not yet kicked in, depending on who you wanna believe...ooooh...

Love sittin' back at my desktop.  I feel like a king...

twice..

My bro-in-law gave me n' Mum a computer...so now I can Blog!  Like it's 2008!

Yeah.

So...I guess that's worth its' own blog entry.

...

Neither mine or Mom's keyboard would connect to it; we needed something w/ a USB connector.  At first we tried an adapter, didn't work for some reason, then I asked my sister to fwd me a gift card so I could buy one on Amazon, so that way I could submit the order confirmation to FreeShipping.com, but my uncle John had just bought a computer, and had a spare keyboard that fit our needs just fine.  And I was able to cancel the Amazon order, but was left w/ a $15 Amazon gift card...so I gotta pay it back asap...

Oh, and I was rambling about should/shouldn't/should I? cancel the Amazon order and keep from (not) getting kicked off for TOS violation, but I went ahead and cancelled it anyway.  I went ahead and ordered GBI&II BD and one of the CDs from the other aforementioned order, and yay! TAXI DRIVER went down significantly in price since yesterday, so I went ahead and got that (and now I can watch it on my blu ray player ala Amazon Instant Video, yee-haw!).

I rented a movie from Hastings yesterday even though I'm behind returning a movie from Family Video; it was due on Friday?, and I intended to return it then but I went to bed like 5+ hours before they close, and I woke up 2+ hours after they closed.  Brr...now it's due on Wed?  It's a 5 day rental, I can't remember when exactly it was due at first, but whatever day it was, 5 days plus then.  So...[sigh]...yeah...

I found out yesterday(?) Dennis Cooper's borefest CLOSER is back in print.  I'm an idiot!  I still keep thinking about that book.  I like the title.  The idea of being close...closer...becoming so close you end up as one...speaking of which, I skipped Church today.  Just didn't feel like it.  I wanted to listen to some music.  And I did.  So;...
There's all these books that look/sound interesting...they're soooo not the kind of books my local library carries.  They carry standard 300-500 page mainstream fare.  Weird...there's like A TON of them.  Some of them I skip over, more or less, even though if I paid mind to all of them, what would I lose?  So much to read, so much money to spend that I don't have.....

GHOSTBUSTERS & GHOSTBUSTERS II [Blu ray] -- Coming Sept 16

The front cover, as was the case with the 2005 DVD "gift set", states "GHOSTBUSTERS 1 & 2", as if "Ghostbusters 1" is the title of any movie...sigh...the cover is cool though.  It sorta reminds me of the glow that swarmed around the lettering of GHOSTBUSTERS II on the front cover of the original VHS from 1990.  Except in this case it's a blue glow, not a green one.  And the background is also reminiscent of the "tunnel light" (?) in the background of the same front cover art of the GBII VHS.

I went ahead and ordered it today, b/c I needed something to keep my autorips from resulting in a declined debit card transaction...I forwent renewing my Sony Music Unlimited subscription this month, so I'm DYING to hear so many great musical pieces (songs/albums/...).
Explain, please?  OK:  ...Um...I'll try anyway:
My entire shipment is scheduled to ship on Sept 16.  Presently, I have $0 in my bank account.  Amazon doesn't bill you until they ship.  The autorips get added to my "Amazon Music Library" as soon as the order is placed.  So: I get the music now, and pay later.  I can cancel my order, but at this point I feel that would be like theft, b/c A) I'd heard the CDs before I bought them, on various on demand streaming music services, and B) I've now heard them again courtesy of Amazon's autorip program.  As long as I don't download the songs, I am not obligated to pay anything...seems like Amazon would be pressured into changing this, but...well, I'm sure if I got carried away with this, they may consider sending me a friendly reminder that my membership can be terminated, regardless of what if any Terms Of Service I have violated, and there may even be something about such behavior written in their TOS...

I ordered three CDs totaling just under $35 ($35 is the minimum for free shipping).  They may decide to ship the CDs soonisher, but I'll be getting some moolah on Friday, so it shouldn't be a huge problem given the somewhat ridiculous time it takes Amazon to get items out the door when shipping isn't paid for (even the "standard" shipping rate usually results in semi-slow out-the-door timing).

Also, GHOSTBUSTERS II Soundtrack is being re-issued on vinyl.  Seriously?  Maybe a CD release will see the light of day soon?  It's been out of print for eons!

I sure hope Dan Aykroyd doesn't die before GHOSTBUSTERS III begins filming, supposedly this coming spring (almost a freakin' year from now!!!).  We already have Harold Ramis dead, Bill Murray refusing to participate, and Dan Aykroyd is a heart attack waiting to happen.  Although I think the ripe age for a heart attack has passed for him...he's like 60 something isn't he?  Heart attacks usually happen between age 30 and 50, I think...given my lack of "I was there" knowledge, I can't say for certain how Ramis' death will effect the effectiveness of this film...neither Reitman or Ramis have contributed much if anything worthwhile to movie goers over the past 10+ years...I'm glad Sony isn't relying on Aykroyd and Ramis exclusively to get the film done...but I am glad they are letting them contribute their input, because when all is said and done it is their film, and it can't be easy for someone else to pick up where GHOSTBUSTERS II left off without coming off as an imposter.  It's still not going to feel like a seamless transition, I'd be surprised if it is -- the length of time since the 1st sequel came out if nothing else will indeed impact the feel of the movie --, but at least it'll feel somewhat more genuine; Aykroyd and/or Ramis can at the very least tell whoever is responsible for the bulk of the current draft what they did wrong, and go back and re-submit it...
I'm getting pumped up and misty eyed at the same time...wooooahh...waxing philosophical here...

Supposedly there's a bounty of GHOSTBUSTERS paraphernalia to be avail. for purchasing in recognition of the 30th Anniversary of the original film, but all the good stuff has yet to be released.  Marshmallow Fun Co. is supposed to be coming out with this projectile guns w/ GB branding AND they supposedly have plans to put out Stay Puft "brand" marshmallows...hopefully they'll put an image of THE Stay Puft Marshmallow Man on the package, not the turtle-fied Stay Puft that NECA sculpted for their bobble head of it back in 2001.  A lip balm that came out 2 or 3 years ago as well as a different co's attempt at manufacturing Stay Puft marshmallows used a likeness of that NECA sculpt in their packaging.  Only time will tell.
OH, and some GB pens are to be coming out...unless the co. responsible for this announcement changed their plans...they look ugly, but who doesn't need a pen?  And they'll have the GB logo on the packaging (I HOPE!!!)....it may not be very big though; if they put it in the wording and leave out the big logo, I will be sorely fissed.  They do the opposite quite often, but sometimes they neglect to highlight the logo instead opting for the text w/ the logo inside.  Kenner always used the big logo and the little logo in the wording, and packaged their toys with bright purple backgrounds on the front.  Their toys were always imaginative, too...Fearsome Flush was a delightful slice of cartoonish macabre and I also very much liked their sculpt of the Universal Monsters, especially The Wolf-Man.  As with the hero figures, the original wave of ghosts were the best - H2 Ghost especially, and the Gooper Ghosts,...man, they were on high!!!  And so was I...hehehe...um...yeah, I mean, I'm not high...really...I will always have this tinge of disappointment when I see a UPS truck though.  Someone mailed me Sludge Bucket (one of the Gooper Ghosts) via UPS.  My mom threw away the EctoPlazm that came with it, so the toy was pretty much useless.  I also remember someone mailed me the original Peter Venkman hero figure (w/ brown suit and proton pack) and we had to return it b/c my mother had already given me one for Easter (no need to have two of the same figure right?  Yeah, try telling that to certain sellers on eBay...it does seem like I suggested maybe I keep it and not open it, since I simply did like the way the toys looked in the package...it was a primitive instinct to open the toys; I didn't "play" with them in the traditional sense, or at least that's what my mom told me a couple times...the highlight of buying a Ghostbusters toy was going to the store and seeing them in their bright colorful packaging...buying one and opening it in the car is kinda like a collective unconscious tradition...or something like that...idk...)

Hmm...now I wonder how far someone would need to go to find these exact same sentiments written in another blog post in this blog...and how many times....HOW MANY TIMES!!!

eeh...Um...toodles.

The Fall Of Napoleon The Great - May 2nd 2014

My cat is dead.  The greatest cat in the world, Napoleon, is dead.  He died not long after his 15th birthday.  He'd been losing weight since November or thereabouts, and the vet determined that the culprit could be one of four things, and that none of the possibilities would be treatable with the money I have.  And diagnosing him would also be a kick in the boot.

My PC was infected with a virus that wouldn't let me get past the boot-up.  This occurred around February.  My tablet has no actual keyboard, just a touch-screen, and it has since fallen by the wayside as well - acquired it in mid-March...which is why I did not write a 4-5 part series of eulogies on and after May 2nd.

Life goes on.  I find time to laugh and listen to music.  The day after he was put down was hard.  I woke up and there was no Napoleon to feed, to pet...my other cat Harrison is a fraidy cat and hasn't stopped missing him.  I've been trying to feed him upstairs, which is inciting added bravery to Harrison...he'd been getting slightly braver over the past year or so anyway, after living in my house for 4+ years, he still hisses at my mom, isn't as panicked about her dogs, but still very weary of them.  He hasn't attacked my sis' cat, Bear, in a while...not since Napoleon died, I don't think.  My mom's cat, Jersey, he's had a little rougher relationship with; Jersey is a typical cat, whereas Bear is a total mama's boy, so Harrison and Jersey have almost had to duke it out a couple times, but I broke it up before it got anywhere.

On the good news front, between April 15th and June 15th, I'd lost 5 lbs.  I weighed 215 lbs, still got some room to improve.
Oh, and I bought a Blu ray player from Target in April.  The Great Sony Electronics Corp's newest DVD player model is a total clunker - makes too much noise, does a half-arrs'd job at reading music CDs...and nobody is offering a supposedly superior DVD player purchase.  Panasonic supposedly was offering a better DVD player, but it seemed as if it had gone out of production with no successor.  So Blu ray player it is.  It's cool; I can listen to on-demand "unlimited" streaming music via Sony Music Unlimited, and Pandora Radio, and of course Netflix is on there too...haven't watched a single movie from begin to end since I bought it.  I got about halfway through PRISONERS (2013).

My sister's fiancé is working on making a PC computer via parts he plans to order and the parts from my mom and I's broken PCs.  Hopefully they'll be assembled by July 11th, so they can get married on July 12th, and me and mom can haul it w/ us on the way back on July 13th.  I don't know if I I made any mention of them getting married in prior posts, but - well, there you have it.

I keep deleting my Pandora stations.  I did find an interesting mix of wacky rock-pop by making a station out of Oingo Boingo's "Just Another Day" (from their DEAD MAN'S PARTY album of 1985).

Been considering plugging my VCR into my TV.  I have all the greatest movies of my youngsterhood - well, not all, but.......
JURASSIC PARK, GHOSTBUSTERS, TERMINATOR 2, E.T.....I even have HOME ALONE...and I bought STAKEOUT (1985), which I haven't seen, on DVD or VHS, or any other format for that matter.  I want to see it, supposedly it's good...haven't though.  If I had my VCR plugged in, I might still haven't have seen it,....I rented RASHOMON and BABETTE'S FEAST from the library yesterday.  This is the third time I've checked out BABETTE'S FEAST.  WTH!!!
I actually owe the library an additional $3 b/c I wasn't able (or willing?  I don't really remember) to return them on time.

Yawn.  I'm running out of stuff to talk about.  I best be goin'.  I'm using a public computer from the Cape Girardeau Public Library, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri (my home town for the past 17 of my 30 years on this Earth).
