...perhaps...

wow. McrPlus (my coke rewards "plus") has TWO VERSIONS of the Sandra Bullock (sp?) film CRASH (remember when that would have been a selling point?), which is unusual; in fact, the very fact that the film is carried by MCRPlus is surprising, 'cause if you look up 9/10 of any movie, good or bad, only 1/10 of those will be there...actually, that's probably giving their selection the benefit of the doubt...the doubt as to how many good movies actually exist. And of course most of the films they cary are completely worthless, although a lot of those are worth SEEING, just not worth owning, certainly not for the price(s) they ask...they want more than what WalMart or Amazon charges, PLUS your points (lots of 'em). Oh, and there's S&H added to the already inflated total.

But I think it's intersting - no, I'm not gonna mention why I haven't posted in 10++ days..what do you mean WHY? 'cause I don't know!! ah, dang it. you confused whoever the heck aside from my mom is reading this... - that they carry the film, AND they carry TWO VERSIONS of it. Why? Well, frankly, it's only b/c I, for one, did not like the movie. All the film does for me is remind me of how stupid people can be. That guy in the gun shop was a total IDIOT! He assumes that all Arab people are friends with one another and that they have the same will as terrorists...how the heck is it possible to defeat this kind of evil/stupidty with watching a movie about it? I guess some people may just act like worthless scum but they have a not-so-hidden desire to rise above?
I guess racism is still just as prevelant as ever...either that or people just like to dwell on stuff that's mostly dead and buried...I mean, that film just came out a couple or so years before Obama became our President. I guess the idea of CRASH was to show people how dumb their unspoken (i.e.: suppressed) thoughts are, by showing people saying them out loud...since people don't often do that these days...
But it must be one heck of a popular film, ya know? All, or most, of the films that MCRPlus carries are total pop-culture fluff (kind of redundant, I know...), since that, for some reason(s) or another, seems to resonate with society the most. But CRASH is not exactly "fluff", I don't think...granted, it appeals to the illiterate and/or inarticulate (or something worse maybe...), but it's still got a point (I think...), which is more than can be said about BEVERLY HILLS CHAHAHA...it's just too bad there's not other movies that are just as emotionally enveloping, if not more so, that people think are worth seeing...

duke sides live aka as good as gold

I swear; I kept trying for the longest time...about two years, ever since I saw an ebay listing for it...to find a Genesis CD (set) titled DUKE SIDES LIVE, even after I had, unknowingly, found it AND LISTENED TO IT!!!!

Turns out this "other" Genesis CD (set) (which turns out to be a bootleg, not just some import-exclusive release that the USA bigwigs are too dumb to sell to us...) titled AS GOOD AS GOLD (which ironically does not feature the song that the title seems to have been taken from, which would be "Please Don't Ask" for the uninitiated), which I had heard via a torrent download a couple months or so ago - and which sucked for a number of reasons... - IS THE SAME EXACT THING as DUKE SIDES LIVE...the only POSSIBLE difference - possibly - is the sound quality...judging from the comments on the "Genesis Movement" website, people get pretty darn serious about bootlegs, treating them like official releases...

Anyway...just kinda thought that was interesting...

GHOSTBUSTERS incense

YOU KNOW WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS? I'll tell you: Ghostbusters incense burner(s)! I mean, why the heck not? Ghostbusters has such a fanatical fanbase, just as much as any God or religion, but I guess I'm one of the very few who thinks Ghostbusters is worth more than The Bible or whathaveyou...
I googled it and couldn't find anything. All I found is a bunch of music-related incense burners, and as much as I love music, the music that was branded on the incense burners wasn't really my thing. I'm not really into the 60's and 70's music; I prefer alternative music of the 80's and more melodic stuff. I sort of a Genesis fan, I also like indie rock band Trespassers William. But I'm not devoted to any of those bands, nor do I have any reason to be. To my knowledge, there is no band/artist who hits a home run with every album they make/have made...
Anyway...GHOSTBUSTERS means a lot to me, for one. It has an interesting premise, with a lot of scientific and religious overtones...and it's been a part of my life longer than any piece of music that I know. I was obsessed to the point of insanity in my early youth, and I'd like to say I got locked up in an insane asylum b/c of it, but that'd be a bit of a stretch...
I'm not as devoted to Ghostbusters anymore, mostly b/c I'm just kinda "blah" when it comes to emotions, but incense is cool; it's powerful and has a lot of religious history, and so does Ghostbusters. Why can't the two be marketed beside each other? Instead of smart and sophisticated pop culture such as that, they put Cheech And Chong incense burners on the market, as if only people who do drugs are interested in incense...
I've actually never bought incense, but I really should. My sister had a orange-soda scented candle and dang did it smell awesome! It seems like I saw a really cool incense burner at some store I was at somewhere a while ago, but I can't remember what it looked like or anything about it...
The best days I remember are the ones where the weather had a slant to it; like there was something in the air that permeated my brain with unusual & good sensations...incense probably won't take the place of occurances such as those, but it can get me closer, more often...
I doubt anyone's reading this, so if/when I get my Stimulus $, I might ask around and find somebody to make a kick-a$$ Ghostbusters themed incense burner.

OLD FEELINGS

Old feelings of days gone by come at me from all sides, and I relish in the rush of things not there
These are the things that I love, these are the things that live on
In tomorrow’s future lives, lives I’ll never get to see
And if I did, I wouldn’t begin to recognize these things I knew so well
They don’t look like they used to, but they feel the same
They feel like things I’d like to have again
And I try
Try to pin them down,
In a frame
Too bad I didn’t take many pictures
I try
I’ll try again
When these old feelings strike again

maybe there's something in the water...

those who know me know I don't drink enough water, but I've been drinking more lately...

anyway; I feel like declaring my disinterest in Genesis' 1986 pop album INVISIBLE TOUCH, but it seems I've felt this way before. So I'll probably keep it for another 6 months...see what happens...

So, unless my interest in I.T. grows back to normal, here's a list of CDs I DO want:

The Academy Is… - Fast Times At Barrington High
American Football - s/t
Cartel - Chroma
The Cure - Pornography
Hidden In Plain View - Resolution
Oingo Boingo - Skeletons In The Closet: The Best Of
Rush - Power Windows
The Starting Line - Say It Like You Mean It
Trespassers William - Different Stars
Trespassers William - Having
Virginwool- Open Heart Surgery

that's 11 CDs. 4 of them I already own; this is I guess what you would call a "virtual" CD Collection...

i'm trying to see if I can make a good CD-R mix, since I can't seem to get Pandora to give me what I want.

I Promise - when in rome
your love - the outfield
can't fight this feeling anymore - REO Speedwagon
drive - The Cars
I Don't Know You Anymore - Savage Garden
I've Forgotten Everything - Phil Collins
Forever Young - Alaphaville
I Never Wanted To - Saosin
All The Things She Said - T.A.T.U.
Hey Mister - Custom
Sometimes - The Psychedelic Furs
Trust Me - The Fray
There's A Place For Us - Phil Collins
Voices - Saosin
Not Gonna Get Us - T.A.T.U.
Gone Away - Cold
I'm Stupid - Prime sth
Porcelain - Moby

I'm not sure how many minutes these songs add up to, so I might add one more...I'd like to put like 100 or so on a Data Disc, but Windows Media player seems to think one folder for each artist is THE way to do things...

a world without heros

http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/cuba_otto_reich/2009/04/06/200388.html?s=al&promo_code=7D7D-1

These guys are such morons; I subscribed to their newsletter for some reason I don't even remember, not knowing who they were or anything...these guys talk about a "gulf" between Republicans and Democrats, as if that's Obama's fault, like people can't make their own damn decisions.

Then there's the story in the above link which blames the Castro brothers for Cuba's oppression, instead of the people OF Cuba, who could step up and claim the freedoms that we, the people of The United States, claimed quite some time ago...and with that mentality, it goes further to say that travel to Cuba shouldn't be permitted b/c it would give the Castro brothers income. i mean, for crimany's f'n sake; restricting foreign relations with Cuba does nothing to ease the lives of Cubans. And then it talks about how Cuba is finally in the 20th Century b/c they have cell phones "but we're in the 21st century". Who'se "we" exactly? The world in general? The United States sure as heck isn't in the 21st century, unless you're gonna say that the Japanese are in the 22nd Century...

dial in sounds

Man, I think/hope I found a good'n. I "discovered" a band on smartpunk (dot coooooooom!) called Brandtson (sp?) and was planning on buying their Militia Records debut, but heard from someone who was "praising" that CD that the CDs the band had been doing for Deep Elm records he'd been getting "tired of", 'cause they were everything I like about emo/pop-punk ("sugary", "whiny"...), so I decided to add the CD they did before switching to Deep Elm to my shopping cart, used @ Amazon (it's OOP; DIAL IN SOUNDS, 2002) and it's $7 less than the other one I was about to buy from SmartPunk (I won't have enough money to buy much of anything until later this month...). Of course, I haven't bought DIAL IN SOUNDS 'cause I bought/paid-for a CD that I actually didn't want (see previous post), and although I've been refunded for it, the refund has not posted to my debit card yet. As soon as it does, I'll be buyin' the Brandtson CD.

Hollow Hatfull

My dl on tpb of The Smith's HATFUL OF HOLLOW finished (way) earlier today...so I was able to listen to it and I have discovered that a) the songs from SINGLES that I didn't like were included and b) the songs from their debut that were included weren't anywhere near as good as the originals - everything that I liked about them was lacking (i.e.: that beautiful guitar sound...). Fortunately the seller I bought it from was able/willing to check his email before getting the item packaged and shipped and he was willing to refund my entire payment. The only reason I even began to care about that album was b/c of a song I heard on Pandora called "This Night Has Opened My Eyes", which I could not find a place to downloade it from; well, I went ahead and downloaded a cover version o itf by At The Drive In, and it does the job, or shall I say it "did" the job since I'm actually kind of tired of it already...

Last Night I Dreampt Somebody Loved Me...

Once you hear one, you just can't stop! That would be what they put on the packaging of all The Smiths albums. I had owned "Singles" by The Smiths, but the opening track, along with a few or so other unessential tracks, kind of made the album a bit bland...but apparently most of the songs by The Smiths that I like most are to be found on 1984's HATFUL OF HOLLOW, their 2nd album, featuring variations of songs found on their 1983 debut. 1986's THE QUEEN IS DEAD has at least a few songs that I like, but I certainly won't buy that one, since the first 1 or 2 songs are not in the least bit good, IMO.
Anyway; for some reason one of the Amazon Marketplace sellers had a copy of HOH for under $8 (a good price believe it or not!; you can't find The Smiths' music just anywhere...); I say "for some reason" b/c Amazon has at least 3 item pages that appear to be basically the same thing, except they have different barcodes and one of them I guess is remastered or...something; I'm guessing the one I bought was an older pressing, 'cause there's absolutely no product information other than an ASIN and I don't even know what an ASIN IS...
So now I will hopefully have HATFUL OF HOLLOW shipped to me, either tomorrow or the day after that; if it gets shipped tomorrow, it'll probably be delivered Friday, but maybe sooner...mail's been kinda slow lately...I literally can not wait! I'm dling it through tpb right now...sure is taking awhile though...

I think we're catching onto them...

("when all you want is what you're getting/they're catching onto us")

for those of you who aren't lounging in the depths of some mental institution, locked away where no one can hear you and your friends screaming the thoughts that are also going through my head, the title of this post a) refers to a Cartel song titled "A" as in "Answer" and b) refers to the notion of me ("we"; I am crazy, although I'm not actually schizophrenic or multi-personality, I just come off that way to some people sometimes...) "catching on" to what all those music critics and knowlagable music lovers (them) consider to be THE definition(s) of "good taste"

OK! Now that you wasted your time actually reading that, here's a list that takes out most, if not all, of the "throwaway" pop/rock music and inserts a good deal of "real" rock.

American Football - s/t
Cartel - Chroma
Genesis - Invisible Touch
Genesis - Live/The Way We Walk Vol. 1: The Shorts
Genesis - Live/The Way We Walk Vol. 2: The Longs
Genesis - Trespass
Hidden In Plain View - Resolution
Joy Division - Closer
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Mineral - The Power of Failing
Number One Fan - Compromises
Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary
Sunny Day Real Estate - LP2
Trespassers William - Different Stars
Trespassers William - Having
Virginwool- Open Heart Surgery

As far as albums that I, personally, think are THE BEST, most moving and effecting, albums, this is what THAT would look like:

American Football - s/t
Cartel - Chroma
Hidden In Plain View - Resolution
Number One Fan - Compromises
Trespassers William - Different Stars
Trespassers William - Having
