53; been waiting for this moment...

Did 53 "air squats".  I'd been working toward this for the past few or so days.  One day I came close to 50.  Then I went back down to 20 or so the next day.  And I did like 30 the day after that; I have a notebook documenting all of this, I'm too stuck to my music & the chair I'm sitting in to take off my headphones and go look.  rrg...
My house-call therapist (she's actually called a "CRPC" worker, and I have no idea what CRPC stands for; it might actually be CPRC, can't ever keep it straight in my head) was advising me that I've become a master of walking and that I'm probably not losing any more weight b/c I'm not challenging myself.  I've been taking her up on her advise to do squats, but I kinda suddenly realized over the last couple or so days that I'm STILL not challening myself; 53 squats is really not that much.  I know this b/c I've done 48 squats in the past not too long ago and I wasn't sore the next day.  I need to push myself.  I should probably do 20 more squats later tonight supposing I don't flop on the bed and fall asleep in the next hour or so.

I get $ tomorrow.  The household cleaning supplies are all low; trash bags, toilet paper, dish soap...and a # of other things...all totalling apprx $150.  We only have about $50 budgeted each month for household cleaning supplies.  I'm chipping in some of my $125 that I allotted myself for stuff I don't need to be buying.  $40 of that I'm voluntarily paying toward my sister's mortgage, so that the house will have a lesser chance of being forclosed when the economy bottoms out.  I should probably be paying closer to $60 or $70, but I'm not sure even $125 extra would keep it from happening.  Me, my mom and sis might be stuck in a 2 bedroom apartment with whatever husband or boyfriend my sister has at that time.  My sister seems confident that she can hold down a job in any economy because she's highly skilled AND she's not too lazy or stuck up to pick apples or whatever...I'm almost as sure as she is that she can find something to do.  The hard thing will be going without the ability to eat whenever I feel like it; that's after my medication withdrawl occurs; here's hoping I don't drive everybody to Bellvue and back hahaha...

This Is Animal Music

This guy on Amazon was saying that 80% of the music buying public might need to listen to Look Mexico's THIS IS ANIMAL MUSIC half a dozen times before they "get" it.  I was thinking he was directing that to all who read his post, but then I realized even though I'm not exactly an "indie" music lover, I'm still not the aforementioned "casual" listener; I always actually LISTEN to music when I have it around me.  Look Mexico's off-kilter rythms don't shock me as I've been listening to Oingo Boingo since my dad bought SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET a year or so before he left his family behind in late 1990, although it wasn't until around 1994 when he mailed me his 'Boingo CD for me to have that I started listening to it constantly and on my own time (I loved the cover-art and couldn't afford to pay what it was going for at music stores at that time).  I also grew up listening to INVISIBLE TOUCH by Genesis, which 70's prog-rock enthusiasts often consider generic or whatever, but compared to most other pop music, then & now, it's actually quite off-kilter and unorthodox in structure, although pop music prior to 1987 when NKOTB, Bobbie Brown, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany started dominating the charts was quite often playful and quirky ("Take On Me" by A-Ha and "Down Under" by Men At Work come to mind).  The only time I ever needed to listen to something half a dozen+ times to appreciate/get it is if the music is unpleasant, i.e.: the intro to "Bendy" from Hidden In Plain View's RESOLUTION and the first 20 or so seconds of "Darkness" from UP by Peter Gabriel.  I still don't like Sunny Day Real Estate's DIARY despite having it on as background music while I type out my budget and browse for items I think I might buy etc....There were a few times I thoroughly enjoyed The Get Up Kids' SOMETHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT, but the last time that happened was like three years ago...and I've always taken issue with the singer's voice.  I think the only times I ever warmed up to an album was when I was discovering pop-punk and emo, most notably TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS by Taking Back Sunday; I'd heard "Great Romances Of The 20th Century", and loved it and was kind of put off by the rest of the album, but there were bits and pieces that I remembered even after my initial sour impression of the album.

Ghostbusters Chain wallet

I bought the Ghostbusters chain wallet that I was whining about in my last post...the seller, goHastings (dot coooomme!), notified me on Sunday, the 21st, at 4:40am that the item had shipped, and USPS finally, on the 22nd, updated the tracking to reflect that the tracking # is valid, but not that they've received the package or where the package is, if anywhere.  When I contacted goHastings, they said the item shipped on the 19th, which was the purchase date and preceeds the shipment-notification email by over 1.5 days and the USPS' acknowledgment of the package by 2+ days.  They also said at the very latest I should expect the package to arrive by August 2nd.  Hopefully they'll refund the entire payment not just the "item" price (the money I put toward the "item" is actually money that goes to their employees, the manufacturer of the item, and the various other costs associated with goHastings' retail outfit; the shipping cost I paid, while tradionally differentiated from the other expenses a business has to consider, is not any different than the money they pay their employees; if I quality for a refund, do they take money out of their employees checks?  No.  Does the manufacturer get penalized whenever a refund is issued?  No.  And the USPS states on all their receipts that no refunds are given for uninsured postage.  So why do sellers provide refunds for items and keep the s&h money?  The World May Never Know).   But if they don't, I'll be sure to let Amazon know if they try to pull that BS; I'm sure glad I bought it from Amazon instead of goHastings directly via their website.  Amazon has my back.  They've come through for me so many times its almost insane.

Opinions are like...

Mid-lastmonth I joined this survey panel named Opinion Square so I could get $1 or something like that from InboxDollars.  I've completed like 6 surveys, but I've only been credited for five of them.  Two more credits and I'll have $5 to spend on Amazon.  They give "tokens" for not qualifying for a survey, 100 out of the 1,000 points in my balance are from that.  The cool thing is I got $5 from my Gramma for a Ralph Lauren beach towel that I won via a token @ Opinion Square.  So I now have $5.  Yay.
Matty Collector is a huge waste of money.  They're asking $265 + X? in shipping for two Ghostbusters 6" action figures and an Ecto-1 that can fit the figures.  Something like this back in 1987 would have cost $60 in 2013 dollars.  The only improvement that's been made is the toys are likenesses of the actors and not the cartoon characters and they have like a million points of articulation.  Not something I'd pay $150++ extra for.  Matty Collector sells by subscription, which forces people to spend a huge amount of money for stuff that would otherwise cost a lot less.  Mattel released a Christmas gift pack of four GHOSTBUSTERS II action figures with proton packs and Santa hats.  It only cost $70.  Not a bad deal compared to paying $20 + $8 S&H every two or three months for whatever variant Mattel/Matty Collector decides to churn out.  I got the Winston from the GB2 gift pack used on eBay for less than $10.  I would have loved to buy the GB2 gift pack brand new, but I couldn't afford it then.  And they were limited editions Toys 'r' Us exclusives.  I had planned to save up but they started coming out before Halloween, so by Christmas they were sold out, or I figured they would be anyway...
So far I've gone without overdrawing my bank account this month.  My bank policy allows users with a "Demand Deposit Account" (not sure what that means) to overdraw up to $5 without OD fees.  My bank ususally declines any charge over $3 though.  I've been just going through my days without wanting anything other than happiness, which I know will be extremely hard to come by in the not too distant future.  No matter what I put myself through in the present, if the Antichrist's henchmen are cutting at me, it's going to hurt.  And there's worse things they can do I'm sure.  It just seems weird that there's nothing I want.  There's things I like to look at.  Some things are appealing albeit useless.  GoHastings is selling a Ghostbusters drinking cup decorated to look like it's covered in goopy slime.  Of all the works of art out there, it seems pointless to spend 1/8th of my disposable income on a stupid cup.  I sorta need a wallet.  There's a Ghostbusters wallet I've wanted for awhile on clearance for less than $8 on GoHastings as well.  Or it was a few days ago...[5? minutes later] -- I went ahead and bought it.  I had some gift cards I used to repay my mom for money I owe her.  They still say they have 8 left.  A week or less ago they said they had 7.  Sure is taking them a long time clear out their unwanted junk...I first noticed it was on clearance like 2+ months ago actually.  A part of me thinks "FALSE IDOLS!" when I consider buying GB merch.  Not sure if that falls under that umbrella or not.  It's probably not a particularly Christian thing to buy Ghostbusters stuff...especially considering how little I donate to the Church...which so far is nothing...Oh, yeah, and the wallet went down $0.25.  Yay.  (I think it went down $0.75 actually, not sure...grand total today is $7.49.  It was over $8 apprx a week ago......)

I'm listening to Pandora right now, sparadically enjoying it.  "A Forest" just finished playing.  Is The Cure the path to happiness?  Eh...PORNOGRAPHY is a pretty intense listen.  Their music on SEVENTEEN SECONDS and FAITH is atmospheric, but too dreary, IMO.  Nice to sleep to, I suppose.

NO USE FOR A NAME

What do people call the time we live in?
I have never knew a life without television and music.
I never engaged in sports willingly.  I never felt much for games of any kind or activities that mirror games.  I've never even been much of an outdoors type.  I've never hunted, never gone hiking, skiing, etc...
I did play outside a lot when I and my sister were around 3-6 years old.  I don't remember enjoying it, but I don't remember complaining at all.

I guess we call this the "modern" era...but all that means is that is that it's current.  All eras are modern in their day.
I guess I'm forgetting that electricity will continue to exist.  But when food and most other commodities rise at 40% inflation, the gov't won't be able to raise my SSI b/c, even if the sequester does add up to something meaningful, politicians are loath to mess with Social Security/SSI and Medicare/Medicaid despite the fact that the fund for both will be empty mid-next decade.  I would consider trying to get a job when worst came to worst, but me and my ilk will probably just be adding to the already-millions of unemployed.  Even those who have jobs by whenever this happens - 2020-2030 or thereabouts, I think... - will still be struggling to pay for food and shelter.
I'm thankful my sister feels so much care for me that she would let me live rent free if it turned out I was unable to have money.  Here's hoping she'll be able to hold down a job that pays the bills.

I guess it's a good thing this life I live will end soon-ish-y...
Rumor has it the Antichrist plans to do a Hitler and eradicate people like myself.  I don't know if the Nazi gruesomeness will apply or it'll be a straight forward conveyer belt mass murder.  Given Satan's reputation for managing Hell (I don't know if The Bible supports the idea of Hell being a torture champer run by Satan; I've never read that/those passages firsthand and I've never been relayed any specific passages that amount to that and my mother - who is well versed in The Bible - hasn't ever explicitly said anything about that), I would guess Nazi tactics will be employed.

Summer 1997-1999: Years In Rock Music

Matchbox 20 - Yourself Or Someone Like You (1996-1999)
Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind (1997-1999)
Blink 182 - Enema Of The State (1999)

Smash Mouth
"Can't Get Enough Of You Baby" - theme from teen party film CAN'T HARDLY WAIT (1998)
Sheryl Crow "My Favorite Mistake"
Alanis Morissette - "Thank You" & Jewel - "Hands" - theme from winter 1998/'99
Everlast - "What It's Like" - for those mid-late afternoons where the sun is out but so are the clouds
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - "The Impression That I Get" - party song for jocks & Heathers, although the song is flat out awesome w/o the connotations
Harvey Danger - "Flagpole Sitta"; proof that this song is so 90's: it was featured in the movie AMERICAN PIE (1999)
Bic Runga - "Sway" - another AMERICAN PIE (1999) cast member...uh...
Goo Goo Dolls - "Iris" - theme for fall '98
' ' - "Black Balloon" - staple of radio circa spring '99
Tonic - "If You Could Only See" - the birth of late 90's rock?
Foo Fighters - "Everlong" & "My Hero" - hard hitting emotional poweranthems
' ' - "Learning To Fly" - a lot of sad songs on this list - this one isn't
Hole - "Malibu" - truly bittersweet
New Radicals - "You Get What You Give" - just a kickin' song.  Not much else to say.
Marcy Playground - "Sex And Candy"; another 1hit wonder; kinda melancholly; made for lazy afternoons, IMO
Semisonic - "Closing Time"; I like the album, but this song in particular was all over radio and fit right in with the guitar pop-rock (adult alternative) of the mid-late 1990's

Here I go again...on my own...

My Inbox Dollars check came yesterday, and so did my SSI $, so to the bank me & my mother went (she drove me 'cause I'm pathetic in every way).
I bought ONLY A LAD at Sears dot com for $5.20, a logical purchase; first of all, I heard it for the first time almost a decade ago and have listened to it about 100 times since then.  Second, I've never owned it.  Weird right?  I've owned NOTHING TO FEAR off and on over the past 1.5 decades (I first owned it in California circa 1996 and then didn't buy it again until mid-2003-ish?, and then I've bought it 3 or 4? times since then), and didn't want to make owning SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET: THE BEST OF OINGO BOINGO just for show.  It does also have three songs from GOOD FOR YOUR SOUL, but two of them are at the end of the disc, so I'd have to sit there and hold onto the skip button 10x just to hear songs that I'm not wild & crazy about.  But I really don't think it makes any difference.  SKELETONS... is engrained in my consciousness.  The cover-art aside, the experience of listening to it is always intriguing.  I mean, how could it not be?  It's 'Boingo for crying out loud!  Back in '96, I had to decide between ONLY A LAD and NOTHING TO FEAR.  I chose N2F b/c I remembered seeing the album cover when walking through a music store with my mom & dad, alongside SKELETONS...but I did look at the back cover of ONLY A LAD and noticed "Little Girls", the opening track for SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET was also the opening track for ONLY A LAD.  So there's all this history and...the cover-art is forever awesome.

$5.20
That was after apprx an hour (maybe two) of racking my brain trying to figure out how to best spend my remaining $35.  My first instinct is to buy on Amazon, but there's never anything I want bad enough to pay $2 more for what I get at some other online store.  If I had $70 more, it probably wouldn't mean as much to me, but even a $0.50 rebate is enough to encourage me to shop at somehwere other than Amazon.

Thanfully it ended there, as of yesterday.
Today for lunch I enjoyed a very hearty and mildly(?) fattening meal at a cafe in "historic downtown" Cape Girardeau known as Social's.  My mother used her debit card to pay for it all, but I repaid her by paying for ice cream that she seemed to very much want.  That was $10.50.
I also bought some mp3s from TWO-FACED CHARADE by Famous Last Words @ CD Universe, totalling $5.16 - eventually $0.28apprx cash back @ Big Crumbs.
I also bought Blink 182's 2003 self titled CD, for the 5th(?) time.  I asked the seller to cancel about 20mins ago as I type this sentence.  I don't need it, I don't have any use for it.

I keep thinking I need to buy whichever album by Joy Division and/or THE POWER OF FAILING (1996) by Mineral.  Listeners of both albums seem to feel profoundly moved by them.  I'm more apt to an "eh..." response.
There aren't that many albums I feel strongly about and think highly of.
American Football's debut is one of them.  Hidden In Plain View's RESOLUTION is another.  I still feel rather fondly of Oingo Boingo and Idlewild's THE REMOTE PART is spine-tingly in its ability to provoke an emotional response by emotive vocals relaying pieces of profound thoughts mixed in with a bunch of lyrics that I maybe subconsiously understand...maybe...Genesis' music is almost like GHOSTBUSTERS; not the creme de la creme, but I know them inside out.  I feel almost like friends with Tony Banks, always being like "Go Tony! You da man!".  He looks so suave and sophisticated fiddling with his mutilple keyboards on stage, i.e.: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM fka THE INVISIBLE TOUCH TOUR (the latter being its title when it was on VHS in 1988) and everyone always ignores him b/c his work is more technical and less fireworks (i.e.: he's not a guitarist).
I kinda considered myself an Our Lady Peace fan for awhile.  But they've grown increasingly boring.  I'm pretty much grown out of their late 90's output, 2001's SPIRITUAL MACHINES should have cut into 4/10ths of what it ened up being and just served as an E.P.  GRAVITY is OK, but it's just guitar-noise-pop, with an incredible shrinking effect that occurs the more times it's listened to.  Their HEALTHY IN PARANOID TIMES and BURN BURN were probably their best work, but their last album, CURVE (2012) was stupid AND dull.  The album description on Amazon almost makes me wannna puke; something along the lines of the album being a document about OLP's fight to stay at the foreground of rock music, which is a dramatic way of saying that OLP is basically just in it for the money.  A Skylit Drive isn't what I would call a favorite because none of their albums are my favorite albums and none of their songs even are among my desert island musts, but I do like that I can enjoyably listen to every album they've put out so far.  It's not very often lately that a band can put out 3 consecutive CDs that don't rub me the wrong way or underwhelm the senses.  It wasn't ever that common really, although there have been bands that have done it.  I was really looking forward to Third Eye Blind's 3rd CD, but, even though I've since been able to enjoy it repeatedly, I was very disappointed when I first heard it.  I still haven't fully embraced their 4th album and I guess it's for the best their TBA 5th album is (supposedly) their swansong.
