Summer 1997-1999: Years In Rock Music

Matchbox 20 - Yourself Or Someone Like You (1996-1999)
Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind (1997-1999)
Blink 182 - Enema Of The State (1999)

Smash Mouth
"Can't Get Enough Of You Baby" - theme from teen party film CAN'T HARDLY WAIT (1998)
Sheryl Crow "My Favorite Mistake"
Alanis Morissette - "Thank You" & Jewel - "Hands" - theme from winter 1998/'99
Everlast - "What It's Like" - for those mid-late afternoons where the sun is out but so are the clouds
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - "The Impression That I Get" - party song for jocks & Heathers, although the song is flat out awesome w/o the connotations
Harvey Danger - "Flagpole Sitta"; proof that this song is so 90's: it was featured in the movie AMERICAN PIE (1999)
Bic Runga - "Sway" - another AMERICAN PIE (1999) cast member...uh...
Goo Goo Dolls - "Iris" - theme for fall '98
' ' - "Black Balloon" - staple of radio circa spring '99
Tonic - "If You Could Only See" - the birth of late 90's rock?
Foo Fighters - "Everlong" & "My Hero" - hard hitting emotional poweranthems
' ' - "Learning To Fly" - a lot of sad songs on this list - this one isn't
Hole - "Malibu" - truly bittersweet
New Radicals - "You Get What You Give" - just a kickin' song.  Not much else to say.
Marcy Playground - "Sex And Candy"; another 1hit wonder; kinda melancholly; made for lazy afternoons, IMO
Semisonic - "Closing Time"; I like the album, but this song in particular was all over radio and fit right in with the guitar pop-rock (adult alternative) of the mid-late 1990's
